The name
Uzawa — Swahili for birthright, native mastery, the skill you are born into.
In Kiswahili, uzawa speaks of something inherited by blood and place — an expertise that isn't studied but lived. It is the word our elders use for the knowing that comes from growing up on this land: reading the wind before the rains, tracking a leopard by the alarm calls of impala, knowing which camp faces the migration in August and which faces it in February.
That is the promise in our name. Uzawa Africa Safaris is the craft of wildlife, wilderness and hospitality practised by the people it belongs to — Tanzanians guiding you through Tanzania.
